10:00 am Elizabeth "Liz" A. Vieceli (nee Pry) went to be with the Lord on May 24th, 2022. She was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania on July 25th, 1936 to Thomas and Mary (Whitney) Pry.
She was the baby of the family and loved by her big sister Mary Ann and older brother Tom. Her family eventually settled in Gary, Indiana. She graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1955. Her brother Tom introduced her to the love of her life, Bob Vieceli. They were married in 1959. They had two boys. Robert (Bob) G. was born in 1965. Having had trouble conceiving but wanting to share their love with a bigger family, they immediately applied to adopt. In the summer of 1970, they received the call that they were waiting for and welcomed another son, James Thomas.
She worked at many and varied jobs throughout her life. She worked in the Steel Mill, a church rectory, and checkout clerk at Wise Way Grocery store. She studied nursing but was hampered by health concerns. She did home health care for seniors for several years and worked in a pharmacy and a woman's clothing store. But if you asked her what her favorite job was, she would have said "Mom" hands down. Liz was a long-time member of St. Bridget Roman Catholic Church in Hobart, Indiana. Her Catholic faith was very important to her, and she spent many hours saying novenas (nine cycles of praying the rosary) for needs of family and friends of which she was made aware. She taught her children about Jesus and was a wonderful and loving mother. She most enjoyed having a conversation with someone over a cup of tea.
Family was everything to Liz. She loved the family she and Bob created together, and she loved her big family back east and attending many family reunions with her many first cousins. She had many nieces and nephews and God children and was known as "Auntie" and "Auntie Betty" to many. Liz belonged to several organizations and clubs. She always was involved in her community circles, helping to organize class reunions, and neighborhood gatherings. She loved doing ceramics and blessed everyone with her creativity.
She looks well to the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and bless her;. Her husband also…he praises her. Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised. Proverbs 31:27-28a, 30.
Liz is survived by her two sons: Robert G. (Catherine) Vieceli, and James T. (Cathleen) Vieceli; three grandsons: Robert J. Vieceli, Michael A. Vieceli, Ryan (Jordan) Horn; sister, MaryAnn (Gene) Marker; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death her husband of almost 63 years, Robert J. Vieceli; her parents; her brother, Thomas Pry; and sister-in-law, Janice (Al) Welch.
