He was predeceased by: his parents, Allphin Winfield McAlister and Louise Chinn Melvin (Giles); and his siblings, Allphin "Junior" Winfield McAlister, Jr., Richard Wayne McAlister and Kenneth Earl Melvin.
He is survived by: his wife Marlaina McAlister of Marion; his children, David McAlister of New Castle, Debra Heffernan (Patrick) of Zionsville, Eric Wright (Olga Toggas) of Surfside Beach, SC and Chad Wright of Myrtle Beach, SC; his siblings, Patrick McAlister (Risa Jones) of Mt. Summit, Michael McAlister (Michelle) of Mt. Summit and Mary Rose (Bob) of Anderson; his grandchildren, Jack, Clay, Sam, Quinn, Brittany, Gabby, Evan and Athan; and his great grandchild Saylor Mae.
