He was predeceased by: his parents, Jorge Benavente and Maria Concepcion Perez; his child Quintina Benavente; and his siblings, Roberto, Enrique Mendoza, Lilia Marrufo and Maria Elena Chavez.
He is survived by: his children, Dr. Jorge Benavente (Nancy), Alfonso Benavente, Maria McDonald (Rory), Rosa Estrada (Victor), Jose Benavente (Dianna) and Theresa Ruelas; his siblings, Maria Concepcion, Jose, Octavio and Rafael Mendoza; and his close friend Cathy Rivera. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
