He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Batson and Mary Ann Batson; and his wife Laura Brook. He is survived by: his children, Stacey Ojeda of Hobart, Janet King of Portage, Debi Gifford (Larry) of DeMotte, Keith Nagy of Crown Point and Kyle Nagy (Theresa) of Nevada; his grandchildren, Jayden Ojeda, Brendon, Tristan King, Larry, Paige Gifford, Lauren, Kyle, Ryan Nagy, Zoie, Riley, Baleigh and Kaleb Nagy; his sisters, Belinda Kornaus and Sandi Borders; and his close friend Pam Wilson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Richard's name to Hobart Humane Society or the Independent Cat Society of Westville, IN.
