He is survived by: his son J. D. Sams (Amy Joy); his caregiver Laurie Hamilton; his siblings, Linda Hufferd (Gary), Nancy Burkhart (Joe) and Paul Sams; his grandchildren, Lindsey Crabtree (Jeremy), Brittany Vest (Nate), Shelby Richardson (Curtis), Zach Riebsomer, Holly Underwood (Cole), Hanny Sams and Heather Eckel (Trevor Kelley); his great grandchildren, Chloe, Leo, Eli, Camille, Davi, Raelynn "Red", Kayson, Ezra and Xander; and his pet Tootsie. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins.
