He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred E. Thompson and Ethel Johnson Thompson; his granddaughter Bethany Thompson; and his siblings, Gary Thompson, George Thompson, Robert Thompson, Glennis Thompson and Kathrine Thompson.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Madison-Junkins; his children, Tim Thompson (Monica), Monty Thompson, Michael Thompson (Wendy) and Amy Wise (Billy); his stepchildren, Tom Junkins, Andrew Junkins (Amy) and Kristin Davis (Tim); his grandchildren, Moriah, Lily, Tyler, Brittany, Patrick, Ryan, Lauren, Ella, Hannah, Brandon, Brooklyn, Brayson, Colton, Chandler, Jake and Keith; and his brothers, James Thompson, Jackie Thompson, Sherman Thompson, Wilbur Thompson and Virgil Thompson. He is also survived by his family, friends and his church family.
