He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Friend and Mary Friend (Beckman); his siblings, Richard Friend, Mark Friend, Terry Friend, Sr. and Laura Lehman; his half-sister Linda Turner; and his stepsons, Steve Hawk and Jeff Hawk.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Carroll; his son Rob; his friends, Kendallville and Milissa Berdette (Michael) of Kimmell; his grandchildren, Shayna Daniels, Tyler Smith, Mitch Berdette and Marcus Berdette; his siblings, Tom Friend (Sonya) of Columbia City and Kathy Streby (Rodney Geisleman) of Columbia City; and his half-brother Theron Overman of Fort Wayne. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren.
