He was predeceased by: his mother Helen Painter; his son Barry; and his brother Jay Painter. He is survived by: his father Jasper Painter (Jay); his sons, Shannon Painter of Boswell and Josh Painter of Battleground, Indiana; his grandson Nathaniel Painter; and his sisters, Debby Cronkhite of Zellwood and Vickie Schlene of Lafayette. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Donations in his memory can be made to any local Humane Society or to the Montezuma Baptist Church.
