He was predeceased by: his parents, Hobart Dowdy Jr. and Ruby McCullough Dowdy; his wife Jane Lawhorn Dowdy; and his son Jerry Michael Dowdy. He is survived by: his granddaughters, Taylor Dowdy of Wapello and Haley Dowdy of Wapello; his sisters, Pat Cartwright of Clinton and Terry Laney (Jim) of Clinton; and his nephew Dave Dowdy of Terre Haute.
