He was predeceased by: his parents, Orval Swoverland and Irene Swoverland (Sievert); and his sisters, Dolores White and Beverly Krewett. He is survived by: his stepchildren, Cynthia Johnston of Florida, Joseph Johnston (Beth) of Michigan, Julia Walsh (Patrick) of Chesterton and Steven Johnston (Jenine) of Maine; his daughter Katrina Carpenter (Christopher) of LaPorte; and his sister Lila Hallberg (Carl) of Chesterton. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren.
