He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Barnett Sr. and Maudella Barnett (Strong); and his siblings, Wallace Strong, Roger Barnett and Janice Ward.
He is survived by: his son Stephen Barnett of New Albany, Indiana; his sister Lynda Barnett Denny of Riverview, Florida; and his grandchildren, Charlotte Olivia Mansur and Brendan Stephen Barnett. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
