He was predeceased by: his parents, Tice Sturgill and Gracie Hubbard Sturgill; and his wife Debora Scavitto. He is survived by: his children, Alexander J. Riley of Medora, Stevie Sturgill (Cheryl) of Hamilton, Mikey Sturgill of Hamilton, Ohio, Charity Stout (Jeremy) of Brownstown, Holly Henline (Joseph) of Florida, Sarah Sturgill of Bloomington, Paula Proffitt of Hamilton and Deana Ridenour of Hamilton, Ohio; and his sisters, Shirley Ratcliff of Hamilton, Phyllis Genton of New Albany and Marguita Ferris of Butlerville. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
