He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Smith and Jennie Smith (Hawkins); and his siblings, Mildred Minnis, Leland, John and Jim Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Tammy Smith (Dunson) of Anderson; his children, Franklin Smith, Jr. (Simone) of Germany and Selenia Smith-Vasquez (Ozzie) of Ohio; his sisters, Maudeline Shields of Kentucky, Virginia Renforth of Anderson, Evangeline Frye of Anderson and Francis Armstrong (Robert) of Anderson; his grandchildren, Dustin Smith (Rebecca), Hailey McGough, Tabea Smith (Chris), Charlene Smith (Patrick Fornacon) and Alexandra Smith; his great grandchild Kaleo; and his grandchildren, Ona, Lilly and Zeke Smith.
