He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Hostetler and Ruth Hostetler (Hooley); his sisters, Joanne Yoder-Goshen and Rosanna Miller-Shipshewana (Al); his parents-in-law, Carolyn Troyer (Cornelius), Joyce Murphy (Jerry) and Paul Hostetler, Jr. (Mabel); and his brother-in-law Mervin Yoder.
He is survived by: his former wife Ellen Downhour (Jane); his wife Ellen "Jane" Hostetler; his children, Joy Ruegsegger-Auburn (Brian), Cheryl Black-Lahaina (Larry) and David Hostetler-Anderson (Pamela); and his grandchildren, Tyler Ruegsegger (Michelle), Hannah Lehman (Michael), Grace Ruegsegger, Faye Ruegsegger, Sadie Ruegsegger, Charity, Sidney Short (Joshua), Christian Hostetler (Laura) and Amy Black. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
