He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Clayton J. Steele and Billie Nye Steele; and his stepmother Betty Walker Steele. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Steele (Kirkpatrick); his children, Michael (Hedieh), John, Danielle Cozart Steele (Keith) and Noelle Steele Russell (Jonathan); his grandchildren, Kiana, Kayla Steele and Sullivan David Cozart Steele; his siblings, Dr. Daniel Steele (Connie) and Raejean Carter (Dale); his stepsisters, Annette King, Camilla Barber, Krissy Dorn and Kathy Meierjurgen; his stepmother Joan Steele; his mother-in-law Donnis Kirkpatrick; his brother Jerry; his sister-in-law Susan Heiden; and his former wife Sharon Hobbs. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, patients and dear friends.
David's contributions to the town of Alexandria were many, and his elaborate pranks, legendary.
