He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Soder and Julianna Elizabeth; his sister Rita Susanna (Patrick Brice); his son Mark Joseph (Natasha Peifer); his siblings-in-law, Pat, Gene, John (Jack) and Margaret Phoebe McCarthy; his nieces, Denise Hammerstein (Jim Shepherd) and Victoria Hammerstein; and his nephew-in-law Timothy Veverka.

He is survived by: his sister Lina Magdalen (Gene Hammerstein); his wife Mary Therese; his daughter Nancy Therese (Christian Bigelow); his children-in-law, Christian and Natasha; his granddaughters, Chloe and Daphne; and his nieces and nephews, Andrea (Tim Francis), Theresa (Jeff Glenn), Gene Jr. Hammerstein (Cynthia), Greg Hammerstein (Heidi) and David Hammerstein (Donita).
