He was predeceased by: his mother Pearl Mathews; his wife Lois Hartmann; his daughter Ann; his son-in-law Jeff Zelazny; his brother Richard; his parent Thomas P. Mathews III; his parents-in-law, George and Elsie Hartmann; and his siblings-in-law, Jim, George Hartmann, Jean Hartmann and Virginia Seidel.
He is survived by: his children, Mary, Ruth (Marilyn), Thomas V (Jodi), Terrance (Helene), Stephen (Patricia), Norman (Kate) and Beth Mathews; his grandchildren, Thomas VI (Kasey), Tony, Tyler (Suereea), Justine, Kelly, Jackie, Mercedes, Austin, Mason Mathews, Morgan Bilof (Mike), Katie Steine (Bryon), Kassandra and Jessica Blaschak; his sister Pearl Mathews; and his brother-in-law Thomas Hartmann (Mary). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
