He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Lorri; his parents, Alfred Katz and Sarah Katz; his daughters, Andrea Rein (Tom) and Renee Greenspon (James); his great grandchild Wesley Lev Rein; his mother-in-law Paula Palman; and his sister Janice Katz Dolnick. He was also cherished by his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance (ccalliance.org) or Reach Teach Play (ravinia.org/donatenow/rtp).
