He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Frederick and Ann Michelich Schmidt; his spouse Shirley Irene Vise; and his siblings, Mary Frazier and William Schmidt.
He is survived by: his daughter Jane Ellen Schmidt of Springfield; his niece Kathryn Schmidt of Virden; his nephews, Mark Schmidt of Chatham and Robert Frazier of Champaign; his great-nieces, Mechell, Ellen and Sophia Frazier; and his pet Bunky.
