He is survived by: his wife Yvonne Schmitt (Gries); his children, Christopher Schmitt (Christine) of Metamora, Kathryn Rusk (Todd) of Washington and Dana Zitzka (Anthony) of Naperville, IL; his grandchildren, Jenna, Angela, Dylan, Adelyn, Chase, Charlie, Zach, Jake, Ava, Alexandra and Zoe; his aunt JoAnn Widmer of Maryland Heights, MO; his nieces and nephews, Molly and Lexi Heinold; his cousin Big; his brother Earl Schmitt; and his close friends, Merle and Angie Eichorn.
