He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Glenn Essig and Patricia Essig (Thomas); his wife Sue Taylor; and his siblings, Jim Essig (Deb) and Deb Rich (Tim Fleming).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Vitas Healthcare, TAPS No-Kill Animal Shelter in Pekin, or St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington, IL.
