He was predeceased by: his father Donald Shelly; and his brother Rindy Shelly. He is survived by: his wife Jennifer Pepper of Warren; his grandchildren, Isaiah and Mazilyn; his mother Betty Shelly Metz (Johnson) of Freeport; his sisters, Gena Fryer (Bob) of Freeport, Joyce Shelly of Lena and Carolyn Zuck (Dave) of Dakota; and his pet Peanut. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established in his name for lung cancer research and programs that educate and aid to quit smoking.
