He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Phillips and Luella Phillips (Schulz); his wife Ruby Downs; his children, Gregory and Michelle; his great grandchild Hope; and his siblings, Donald, Gary and Ardith.
He is survived by: his children, Bill Phillips (Melinda) of Warren, Rebecca Edler (Jerry) of Lena, Pamela Carroll (Phil) of Gratiot, WI and Lori Plath (Mark) of Warren; his grandchildren, Tanya, Chad, Christi, Jayson, Janet, Brandon, Curtis, Bradley, Mehgan, Michelle, Tyler and Taylor; and his sisters, Irene Smith (Cliff) and Nancy Boop (Charles). He is also survived by 26 great-grandchildren.
