She was predeceased by: her parents, Allie Niemerg and Catherine Niemerg (Voss); her husband James "Jim" Esker; and her siblings, Aloys, Delbert, Harold, Kenneth Niemerg, Alberta Niemerg and Virginia Poeppelmeyer (Jim).
She is survived by: her children, Kathy Wall (David) of Effingham, Jane Zuber (Gordon) of Teutopolis, Jim Esker (Cindy) of Teutopolis, Jerry Esker (Lana) of Charleston and Jean Althoff (Eric) of Effingham; her sister Rosie Schumacher; her sister-in-law LouAnn Niemerg; and her grandchildren, Holly Burger (Nick), Alex Wall, Patrick Zuber (Julie), Ben Zuber (Erica), Brian Esker (Toni), Brent Esker (Kelly), Scott Esker (Emily), Julie Karstens (Adam), Michelle Gilland (Jordan), Emily Thompson (Matt), Blake Esker (Janelle), Abby Welsh (L. J.), Trent Esker, Courtney Esker, Nicole Field (Justin), Ryan Althoff (Kayla) and Mallory Doedtman (Luke). She is also survived by twenty-six great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be given to Effingham County Right to Life or to the Secular Franciscans.
