He was predeceased by: his parents, Seth Blythe and Kathryn Blythe (Ashenbremer); his wife Carol Blythe; and his siblings, Lucy, Opal, Charles, Carl and Don.

He is survived by: his children, Larry "James" Blythe of Searcy, AR, Patty Renner (Randy) of Stewardson and Brad Blythe of New York, NY; his grandsons, Tyler Renner (Jennifer) of Stewardson and Ryan Renner (Elizabeth) of Strasburg; his sister Clara Elgin of Neoga; and his brothers-in-law, Harry Bivins of Effingham and Sam Bivins Jr. of Effingham. He is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren.
