He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Meers and Elnora Meers (Bullerman); and his son Scott. He is survived by: his wife Elaine of Stewardson; his sons, David Meers (Allison) of Chicago and Mike Meers (Ashley) of Effingham; his granddaughters, Peyton, Samantha and Harper; and his sister Sherry Morgan (Keith) of Le Roy, IL..

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
