He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira R. Loyd and Dolly M. Loyd (Kurtz); and his siblings, Iona Gordon, Juanita Giddings and Jack "Duke" Loyd.
He is survived by: his former wife Sherryl Pitt; and his children, Beth Melton, Loyd Melton and Kirsten Melton. He is also survived by his grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
