He was predeceased by: his parents, John Tomczak and Jennie Tomczak (Franks); and his siblings, Judy Bowers, John Tomczak and Paul Tomczak.

He is survived by: his sister Rose Giesfeldt (Jack); his sister-in-law Jan Tomczak (John); his nieces and nephews, Wendy Breit (Jody), Michelle Miller (Roger), Jennifer Tucker (Michael), Teri Giesfeldt, Marcy Lenox (Scott), PJ Giesfeldt and Cory Kendall (Julie); and his cousin Suzy (Dante Perino).

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for the Rock Falls High School Athletic Department.
