He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Schaefer and Therese Schaefer; and his siblings, Mary Helen, Kathleen Schaefer, Stephen, Carl, Gordy and Michael Schaefer.
He is survived by: his wife Nita; his children, Paul Schaefer of Rock Falls, Sharon Geske (Howard) of Rock Falls, Shelley Atilano of Rock Falls and Patrick Schaefer (Courtney) of Rock Falls; his siblings, Michele King of Bloomington and Greg Schaefer of Centralia; his grandchildren, Makenzi, Colin, Haily, Caden, Grace, Ben, Ella and Brett; and his great grandchildren, Arya and Grayson.
Family has requested no flowers, but to please remember St. Andrew School and Newman Central Catholic High School in memorials.
