It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Leon Gene Capes (Rochelle, Illinois), who passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lorenzo Capes and Mabel Capes (Shelton); his wives, Eleanor Capes (Schreiber), Lois Capes (Steel) and Norma Capes (Fredin); and his siblings, Orville, Lawrence, Ray, Emmett, Reuben "Pete" Capes and Laura Swick.
He is survived by: his children, Teresa Barefield (Homer) of Belvidere, IL, Diane Disch of Kirkland, IL, Leon Jr. Capes (Sheryl) of Kingston, IL, Daryl Capes (Angela) of Rockford, IL, David Capes of Galva, IL, Danny Capes (Dawn) of Belvidere, IL and Tim Capes (Jackie) of Arkansas; and his siblings, Lorenzo Capes of Rockford, IL, Duane Capes (Nancy) of Rochelle, IL, Norma Atkinson of Ashton, IL, Leona Tapp of Lindenwood, IL and Judy Zarr of Bethalto, IL. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
