She was predeceased by: her parents, Omar Ringenberg and Kathryn Ringenberg (Johnston); her husband Bill; her siblings, Donald, Philip Ringenberg, Doreen Moline and Janet Davidson; and her grandson Michael Philips Jr..

She is survived by: her former husband Ray Knudson; her children, Kimberly Zagorski (Michael), Kaye Philipps (Michael) of Cape Coral, FL and Erland Knudson of Creston, IL; her grandchildren, Andrew Strelow, Kayelin Glasspoole of Burbank, CA, Amanda Glasspoole, Greg Zagorski of San Fransisco, CA and Robert Philips (Nicole) of Phoenix, AZ; her great grandchildren, Joan and Joseph Strelow; and her stepchildren, Linda, Ric, Marsha and Jodi.

Memorials may be made in Joan's memory to the Mayo Clinic.
