He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Smith and Lenora Smith (Pellikaan); his former wife Meribeth Thomas Smith; and his siblings, Nick Smith, Gary Smith, Kay Rombach and Donna Vee Biggs.
He is survived by: his wife Beth Bradshaw Long; his sons, Greg Smith (Rachel) of Mattoon, IL and James T. Smith (Jolene) of Pittsfield, IL; his stepchildren, Crystal Bigelow (Jim) of Jacksonville, IL, Sherri Deeder (Dorman) of Bluffs, IL and Gary Long (Sunny) of Newport News, VA; his grandchildren, Jerica Smith, Jarret Smith, Braden Smith, Brock Smith, Averie Smith, Bobby Long and Mary Long; his great grandchildren, Braylen Deeder and Taylor Deeder; and his siblings, Gene Smith (Virginia), Larry Smith (Doris), Verna Puterbaugh, Dixie Foiles, Joyce Lawson (Jim) and Rita (Bobby).
