Helen M. Scranton Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Helen M. Scranton (Pittsfield, Illinois), who passed away on January 23, 2022 at the age of 103. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Jesse Smith and Lula Williams Smith; her son Burton Scranton; her great grandchildren, Ryan Macomber and Adrain Scranton; her siblings, Cecile Foster of Pittsfield, IL, Beulah Dunham of Pittsfield, IL, Glenna Smith of Pittsfield, IL, Margaret Roberts of Springfield, Edward Smith and John Smith of Maysville, IL.; and her husband Arthur Scranton.
She is survived by: her children, Charles Scranton (Debbie) of Vandalia, MO, James Scranton of Mt. Sterling, IL, Bill Scranton (Margaret) of Hersman, IL, John Scranton (Patti) of Mt. Sterling, IL, Carl Scranton (Debbie) of Springfield, MO and Joyce Hoover of Normal, IL; and her daughter-in-law Barbara Scranton of Sierra Vista, AZ. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are welcomed for one of Helen's favorite causes, the Brown County Public Library Building Fund, 143 W. Main St, Mt. Sterling, IL 62353 and the Perry United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 72, Perry, IL 62362.
