She was predeceased by: her parents, Wilmer Merritt and Mildred Merritt (DePeugh); her grandchildren, Michael Canamor and Ashton Schuck; and her siblings, Darlene Martin, Glen Merritt, Norma Mock, Nina Piro and Janice Tisdale.
She is survived by: her children, Sharlet Stewart (Kevin) of Collinsville, James Shelby, Jr. (Debra Scurry) of Topeka, Steven Shelby (Michelle) of Pekin, Kevin Shelby (Danielle) and Allen Shelby (Cindy); her grandchildren, Erica, Amber, Eric, Jennifer, Tony, Jimmy, Jennea, Tiffanie, Kelly, Kayla, Natasha, Jessica, Gaige, Taylor, Parker, Trish, Alex and Blake; and also Wilmer Merritt, Jr. (Lisa) of Pekin. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren.
