Shane William Bruce Elder Obituary

Shane William Bruce Elder, 36, of Olney, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.

Shane was born on June 21, 1985 in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the son of Tommy Elder and Barbara (Guthrie). He married Emily Ruth Geiger on June 30, 2007 at the Illinois Iron Furnace in Shawnee National Forest, and she survives.

Shane was an outgoing and social person. He enjoyed being outdoors, working on vehicles, riding his motorcycle, Boy Scouts, and car shows, especially Frog Follies. Shane also enjoyed being involved in his kid's activities like baseball, band, and soccer. He was a mechanic, a handy man, a good friend, and was dabbling with jewelry making. Shane was always a helping hand to friends and family and even strangers stranded alongside the road. He loved being a dad; being there for his kids and being protective of his family.

Shane is survived by his spouse, Emily Elder; children, Kloe and Linkoln Elder; mother, Barbara Elder; step-mother, Angie (Joe) Lynch; grandmother, June Guthrie; 5 brothers, Tom Elder, Jason Elder, Zach (Korina) Barnes, Justin (Sam McGriff) Barnes, Nathan (Kelsie) Barnes; 2 sisters, Dominique (Brian) Biehl and Ashley Lynch; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death his by father, uncles, Bruce Guthrie and Marion "Nick" Nicolas, and brother, Michael Elder.

A funeral service for Shane will be held at 5:00 PM on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with a visitation beginning one hour prior.
