It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert E. Lee Jr. (Oakland, Illinois), born in Decatur, Illinois, who passed away on February 11, 2020, at the age of 60, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He is survived by: his parents, Robert E. Lee Sr. and Melba Louise Lee (Kelly); his wife April Christine Faires; his sons, Robert Benjamin Lee of Oakland, IL, Peter Isaac Lee of Oakland, IL and James Kelly Lee of Oakland, IL; and his sisters, Anita Bohn (Gary) of Lexington, TN and Traci L. Montgomery (Gene) of Oakland, IL. He is also survived by three nieces, two nephews, three grandnieces, and three grandnephews.
He was former member of the Oakland Historical Foundation (now dissolved) and served as its president for one year, hosting the traveling Smithsonian exhibit "Between Fences.".
