He was predeceased by: his parents, James McDermott and Wanita Rettke (Cole); and his brothers, Jack McDermott and Joe McDermott. He is survived by: his former wife Vicky Evans of Knoxville, Tennessee; his children, Mario McDermott (Ling) of Manila, Kristy McDermott (Mitchell Johnson) of Austin and Jeanie McDermott of Knoxville, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Zachary Myers of Marion, Isabel McDermott of Manila, Cole McDermott of Manila and Chance Smith of Knoxville, Tennessee; his great grandchild Camdyn Myers of Fairfield, Illinois; and his brother James McDermott. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made in John's honor to the Jefferson County Animal Shelter.
