He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Jacobsen and Julianne Jacobsen (Kroeger); his daughter Jana Palmer; his brother Robin Jacobsen; and his sister-in-law Sally Jacobsen.

He is survived by: his wife Judy Jacobsen; his children, Jennifer Westphal (Todd), Jill McNamara (Tom) and Johnathan Gregoire; his stepson John Bybee; and his brother Roger Jacobsen (Sue).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
