He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis I. and Ava L. DeFreitas (Caho). He is survived by: his son David G. DeFreitas (Amy K.) of Hendersonville, TN; his grandchildren, Mathew D. DeFreitas of Myrtle Beach, SC and Emma M. DeFreitas (Dustin Huff) of Hendersonville, TN; and his brother Rollie DeFreitas (Betty) of Germantown Hills, IL.. He is also survived by three nephews and two nieces.
