He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Buckner and Madge Nicholson Buckner; his wife Betty J. Baker; and his siblings, Dean Buckner and Margaret Mattingly.

He is survived by: his son John L. "J. B."; his grandson Randy Buckner (Susan Williamson) of Groves, TX; his great grandchildren, Jonathan Buckner and Evelyn Buckner; his stepgrandchildren, Deborah Myles of Martinsville, IL, Mike Paterson of Martinsville, IL, Dena Porter (Rob) of Marshall, IL, Teri Winemiller (Alan) of Vincennes, IN and Twila Fears (Tim) of Terre Haute, IN; and his siblings, James Buckner of Paris, IL and Zelda Curran of Marshall, IL. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Due to Covid 19 the visitation and funeral service will be private.
