He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Earl and Mildred Bess (White); his wife Diana Lee Pulliam; his sons, Jeff Bess and Joe Bess; his siblings, Francis Bess and Shirley Minnix; and his granddaughter Shala Lee Bess.
He is survived by: his children, Rodney Bess of Litchfield, Rick Bess of Litchfield and Lori Owens of Raymond. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
