He is survived by: his wife Patricia Hayes of Herrin; his children, Marycolleen Hayes of Herrin, IL, Michael (Kathie Hayes), Ralph Hayes of Chicago, IL and Sean Hayes of Wheaton, IL; his grandchildren, Casey, Connie Hayes of Port Charlotte, FL, Tricia Hayes of Collinsville, IL, Jodie Hayes of Naperville, IL, Stephanie Hayes of Naperville, IL, Nicholas Hayes of Colorado, Noah Hayes of Wheaton, IL and Emma Hayes of Wheaton, IL; his great grandchild Mackenzie Hayes (Joshua Hayes) of Port Charlotte, FL; his brother Ronald; his sister-in-law Cathy Hayes of North Carolina; and his nieces and nephews, Rhea Hasemeyer, Cecilia Robertson, Andrea Butler, Jaylen Janes and Jillian Janes.
