He was predeceased by: his parents, Allen Earl and Elsie Mae Clayton (Pallette); his son David Lane Clayton; his daughter-in-law Rhonda Wallace; his sister Neva Sawyer; and his granddaughter Lynzee Clayton.

He is survived by: his wife Erma Jean Noascono; and his children, Marie Clayton of Boston, MA, Richard Clayton (Heather) of Delhi, Terri Broggin (James) of Tacoma, WA, Tammy Darr (Jeff) of Cottage Hills, Tina Sentner (Ed) of Santa Cruz, CA, Traci Pelhank of Dow, Tona Overmeyer (Roley) of East Alton and Tim Vaughn of Moro. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
