He is survived by: his children, Karen Hurst (Tim) of Mt. Vernon, IL, Carol Frerker (Darryl) of Maryville, IL, David Ray (Rachel) of Millstadt, IL, Christine Peterson (Brad) of Maryville, IL, Darrin Ray (Bernadette) of Gibson City, IL and Denise Shakir (Malik) of Montgomery, IL; his grandchildren, Brian (Shannon), Nick, Matthew, Amanda (Jason), Lucas (Amanda), Lindsey (Jordan), Liz, Brandon (Darien), Andrea, Daylan, Spreed, Sydnie, Brendan (Kenzie), Justin, Trey, Connor, Sophia, Tristan and Kayden; and his brothers, Robert Ray (Nancy), Ralph Ray (Sue) and Paul Ray. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
