He was predeceased by: his parents, Lenora Lafferty (Daisy) and Clyde Montague Lafferty; and his former wife Jayn Wahler Lafferty. He is survived by: his wife Norma Lafferty; his children, Becky Lafferty, Stephen (Susan Lafferty) and Johan Thuren (Margareta); and his stepchildren, Mark, Cindy Erb, James, Kelly Erb, Kimberly (Erb) and Terry Peck. He is also survived by 4 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren; and 4 Step Grandchildren and 1 Great Grand Child.
A memorial has been established in Melvin's memory for FHN Hospice, Suite 403, 773 West Lincoln Boulevard, Freeport, IL 61032.
