He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Hooper and Mildred Hooper (Haskens); his wife Carole Samuel; his son Michael; and his siblings, Shirley Bennett, Liz Qualey, Luella McConnell (Bob), Bessie Slinde and Bill Hooper.

He is survived by: his children, Cathy Levine of Beachwood, OH, Jody Coppens (Chris) of Madison, AL, David Hooper of Freeport, Steve Hooper of Lena, Sandy Kampmeier of Lena and Tashi Young (Rodney) of Winslow; and his brother Bobby Hooper of Rockford.

A memorial has been established in his name for the St. Croix Hospice in Rockford, Illinois.
