He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Harold Valkema and Dorothy Valkema (Kloepping); his wife Norma Gusloff; his children, Karen Valkema, Vicky Hoffman (Mike), David Valkema (Barb), Doug Valkema (Sue) and Wendy Skriver; his grandchildren, Nicholas (Erica), Kris (Emily), Andy, Kyle (Tiffany), Jen (Bill), Mallory, Olivia (Braden), Corey (Micki), Kalee, David, Casey, Tannen, Jacob (Alexandria), Nikki (Jed) and Luke (Marina); his great grandchildren, Aiden, Rylee, Sawyer, Sydney, Charli, Emily, Mitchel, Barrett, Michael, Beckham, Lilyana, Nicholas, Elliott, Theodore and Willow; his siblings, Quentin Valkema (late Joanne) and Carol Smith (Stan); and his siblings-in-law, Jack Gusloff (Myrna) and Lorraine Midthun (Martin).
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to St. John United Church of Christ.
