He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank W. "Shorty" and Elsie Irene "Polly" Welborn (DeWitt); his wife Edith Marie Johnson; his sister Mary Lou McElroy; and his brother-in-law Carroll McElroy of Quincy, Illinois..
He is survived by: his children, David Lee Welborn (Karen) of Brighton, Illinois and Kathleen Marie Ellis (John) of Chrisman, Illinois.; his grandchildren, Natalie Michelle Welborn (Zachary) of Bethalto, Illinois, Adam David Welborn of Brighton, Illinois, Jonathan Everett Ellis (Karen) of Aurora, Illinois, Nathanael Edwin Ellis (Leslie) of Mahomet, Illinois and Ethan Kendall Ellis (Emma) of Terre Haute, Indiana.; his great grandchildren, Gabriel Josiah Ellis, Evelyn Edith Ellis of Mahomet, Illinois, Riley Wayne Ellis, Florence Ivy-Marie Ellis and Margaret Kendall "Maggie" Ellis of Terre Haute, Indiana.; and also Linda Morrison. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
