He was predeceased by: his parents, Grady Doyle Melear of Colona and Martha Emogene Crawford–Adams of Kingsport, Tennessee.; his wife Lisa Kay Bailey Melear; and his children, John Ethan Gray of Kingsport and Whitney Lynn Policano (Brian) of Clarksburg.
He is survived by: his pets, Dixie and Bear. He is also survived by his daughter, his grandchildren.
