He was predeceased by: his parents, Renzo Chastain and Myrtle Chastain (Inman); his former wife Colleen Boll; his daughter Debra Chastain; his stepdaughters, Stephanie Sliger and Cheyanne VanHierden; and his siblings, Dellas Chastain, Beverene Hutton Burdena Chastain and Joellen Rigger.
He is survived by: his former wife Ruth Ann Emerson; his wife Barbara Mallon VanHierden; his children, Mike Chastain (Linda) of Prophetstown, Kelly Messmer (Michael) of Savanna, Brenda Geesey (Randy) of Savanna and Bryan Chastain (Amy) of Edwards, Illinois; his stepchildren, Kimberly Achterberg (Gary) of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, Timothy VanHierden, Kevin VanHierden (Rita) of Watertown, Tammy VanHierden of Coal Valley, Lisa VanHierden of Bettendorf and Steven Boll of Galva; his brother Delmar Chastain (Marge) of Bloomington, Indiana; and his sister-in-law Susie Chastain. He is also survived by 29 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
